Meet Dr. Melissa Daza

I love being a dentist. Helping people and creating beautiful smiles every day are what keep me going. Today’s dentistry offers so many advanced treatment options that we’re able to tailor every moment of care to a person’s clinical and personal needs. We’re able to move people out of pain, restore function, and improve smiles, and we’re able to do so comfortably!

I really enjoy cultivating relationships and connections with patients. The biggest compliment I ever received was when a patient told me they wanted to become a dentist because of the impact my team and I had in their life!

We serve a wonderfully diverse community and care for people at all stages of life. I’ve found that by listening to patients, and encouraging them to talk about their lives and experiences, my world is broadened. I learn so much from the stories patients share. I hope they know how much I appreciate being part of their lives.

Our Practice and Team

We’re a neighborhood dental office, with a longstanding reputation for offering top-notch dentistry. We use leading-edge technology and techniques, combined with the essential human touch and respect for each person’s situation.

Many of the people on our team have been with the practice for more than ten years. They are friendly, approachable, honest, and sincere. Each of them loves helping patients and enthusiastically goes the extra mile to make sure every patient is informed about oral health. My team cares for our patients like family members, with compassion and humility.

Education and Continuing Education

Since finishing dental school and my residency, I’ve completed numerous postgraduate courses. I’ve studied under renowned clinicians, including Dr. Frank Spears, Dr. Peter Dawson, and through The Pride Institute. Additionally, I’ve been an Invisalign® certified dentist since 2005 and a CEREC® trained clinician since 2014.

I take a range of continuing education courses throughout the year, because I strive to improve my clinical skills and knowledge. I value my patients’ trust and the confidence they’ve placed in me to care for their oral health. Constant learning enables me to provide the level of care they deserve.

Beyond the Practice

I grew up in a south suburb of Chicago and have lived in the Bucktown neighborhood for almost 20 years. My life is shared with Dennis, my husband, and my daughter Nina. She’s currently attending Walter Payton High School.

In my spare time, I’m an avid runner and have completed several marathons. I also love to play tennis, snow ski, and travel. Reading and yoga help me relax. My personal passion is our environment and climate change issues. I want to make sure all animals have a safe place to live in this world; I support the National Wildlife Federation.

In the Community

I have served on the board of the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce. I’ve also been on the clinical faculty for the oral medicine department at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry.

I’m currently a mentor for young girls through a nonprofit organization, the Chinese Mutual Aid Association. We work with girls and young women from 11 to 18 who come from lower socio-economic backgrounds. As mentors, we provide guidance on careers and school, as well as emotional support and encouragement.
